RAFAEL SABATINI AUTOGRAPH

Rafael Sabatini was born April 29, 1875 – died February 13, 1950. Sabatini was an Italian/English writer of novels of romance and adventure. In all, Sabatini produced thirty-one novels, eight short story collections, six non-fiction books, numerous uncollected short stories, and a play. He is best known for his worldwide best-sellers: The Sea Hawk (1915), a tale of the Spanish Armada and the pirates of the Barbary Coast; Scaramouche (1921), a tale of the French Revolution in which a fugitive hides out in a commedia dell'arte troupe and later becomes a fencing master (Sabatini wrote a sequel ten years later); Captain Blood (1922), in which the title character is admiral of a fleet of pirate ships (Sabatini also wrote two sequels comprising short stories); and Bellarion the Fortunate (1926), about a cunning young man who finds himself immersed in the politics of fifteenth-century Italy. SARA WARE BASSETT AUTOGRAPHED FLY LEAF

Sara Ware Bassett was born in 1872 – died in 1968. Sara was a prolific American author of fiction and nonfiction. Her novels primarily deal with New England characters, and most of them are set in two fictional Cape Cod villages she created, Belleport and Wilton. Her first novel, "Mrs. Christy's Bridge Party", was published in 1907. She subsequently wrote over forty additional novels, continuing to write and publish into the late 1950s. TALBOT MUNDY AUTOGRAPHED FLY LEAF

Talbot Mundy was born William Lancaster Gribbon on April 23, 1879 – died August 5, 1940. Talbot Mundy was an English writer. He also wrote under the pseudonym Walter Galt. Many of his novels, including his first novel Rung Ho!, and his most famous work King of the Khyber Rifles, are set in India during the British Raj in which the loyal British officers encounter ancient Indian mysticism. The novels portray the citizens of Imperial India as enigmatic, romantic and powerful. His British characters have many encounters with the mysterious Thugee Cults. The long buildup to the introduction of his Indian Princess Yasmini and the scenes among the outlaws in the Khinjan Caves clearly influenced fantasy writers Robert E. Howard and Leigh Brackett. Other science-fiction and fantasy writers who cited Mundy as an influence included Robert A. Heinlein, E. Hoffmann Price, Fritz Leiber, Andre Norton, H. Warner Munn, Marion Zimmer Bradley and Daniel Easterman. James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon was partly inspired by Mundy's work. Original Talbot Mundy Autograph, Signed on a Fly Leaf. Donald Benson Blanding was born November 7, 1894 – died June 9, 1957. Blanding was an American poet who sentimentalized warm climates and was sometimes described as "poet laureate of Hawaii". He was also known as a journalist, author of prose, and speaker. He published his long poem "Vagabond's House" several times. (It was in the first, private, printing of Leaves from a Grass-House in 1923; the commercially published edition of the same book, later that year, included it with the title changed to "Aloha House". Dale Breckenridge Carnegie (originally Carnagey) was born November 24, 1888 – died November 1, 1955. Dale Carnegie was an American writer, lecturer, and the developer of famous courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Born into poverty on a farm in Missouri, he was the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936), a massive bestseller that remains popular today. He also wrote How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (1948), Lincoln the Unknown (1932), and several other books. Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins, better known as Anthony Hope was born February 9, 1863 – died July 8, July 1933. Hawkins was an English novelist and playwright. Although he was a prolific writer, especially of adventure novels, he is remembered best for only two books: The Prisoner of Zenda (1894) and its sequel Rupert of Hentzau (1898). These works, "minor classics" of English literature, are set in the contemporaneous fictional country of Ruritania and spawned the genre known as Ruritanian romance. Milbourne Christopher was born March 23, 1914 – died June 17, 1984.  Christopher was a prominent American illustionist, magic historian, and author.

MAURICE SANDEK AUTOGRAPH

Maurice Bernard Sendak was born June 10, 1928 – died May 8, 2012.  Maurice was an American illustrator and writer of children's books.  He became widely known for his book Where the Wild Things Are,first published in 1963.  Born to Jewish-Polish parents, his childhood was affected by the death of many of his family members during the Holocaust. Besides Where the Wild Things Are, Sendak also wrote works such as In the Night Kitchen and Outside Over There, and illustrated Little Bear.
